| To members of the community,
what matters most is what is happening closest to their
lives. The office of Township Trustee is a unique position
that clearly and succinctly illustrates the notion of “all
politics are local”.
Through my lifetime of community involvement and tenure
as the Pike Township Trustee, I have sought to improve the
quality of life for citizens of Pike Township through oversight
of the Pike Township Fire Department, Emergency Assistance,
and other programs. The following list contains some achievements
of my wonderful team:
- Annual Pike Township Safety Festival with over 2000
attendees
- Built New Fire station in 2005 without borrowing money
or raising taxes
- Purchased four New EMS transporting units without borrowing
money
- Purchased two New Fire Trucks without borrowing money
- Pike Fire Department provided public safety with 8605
runs in 2005
- Deployed Firefighters to Assist with Hurricanes Katrina
and Rita
- Signed Mutual Aid Agreements with surrounding Township
Fire Departments
- Negotiated contracts for Pike Fire Department with Local
416 Union
- Reduced Pike Firefighters workweek from 52 to 48 hours;
effective 2006
- Hiring 17 New Firefighters to protect the growing Pike
Community
- 1,407 received emergency assistance; 508 referred to
other programs in 2004
- The Township is fiscally sound and under budget each
year
- Pike Beautification and Economic Development Committee
- Annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life Walk
- Annual Food Drive with Pike Elementary and Middle Schools
- Coordinated Gang Graffiti removal in Pike
- Bi-Lingual Translation: Trustee Office, Fire Department
and Small Claims Court
- Job Referrals for clients seeking assistance
- Served on Pike Schools Blue Ribbon Recommendations Committee
In addition, the Trustee Office has community partnerships
with; North Liberty Christian Church (Food Pantry), Pike
Schools, Citizens Gas, Indianapolis Power and Light, Indianapolis
Urban League, Crooked Creek Multi-Service Center, Wishard
Advantage, the Sharing Place, Food Stamps, Salvation Army,
Goodwill Industries, Work One, the Hispanic Center, the
Julian Center, the Dayspring Center.
